Liverpool could all but wrap up the 2019-20 Premier League title on Boxing Day, if it isn’t already.
Jurgen Klopp’s side head to the King Power Stadium on Thursday with a 10 point lead and game in hand over Leicester City in second. Victory or even a draw would surely silence any of those hopeful that the reds won’t finally get their hands on the trophy.
Leicester were well-and-truly outclassed in their 3-1 defeat at Manchester City over the weekend whilst Liverpool were busy bringing back the FIFA World Club Cup back from Qatar.
You can be sure the visitors to the East Midlands this bank holiday will have seen the footage and look to replicate Pep Guardiola’s gameplan in taking the game their opponents from the get go.
I do wonder if the front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane will start this one after being in a different continent last weekend but if they are all fully match fit then they are going to frighten a Foxes defence. Ricardo Pereira isn’t a solid defender at right-back for me, and Ben Chilwell was torn apart by Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez last time out.
No doubt Jamie Vardy will be a threat to the Liverpool defence, but Brendan Rodgers’ side rarely caused Manchester City’d back four any problems last time out, despite them looking vulnerable all season. Liverpool’s back four have stepped it up in recent weeks too.
I think there’s great value in a Liverpool win here and the game is live on Amazon Prime for those who have it, in case they want to take in-play.
