Liverpool would go nine points clear of last season’s Premier League champions with a win over Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.
The Reds are coming off an easy win at home to Genk in the Champions League on Tuesday night, whilst Pep Guardiola’s side were in action 24 hours later, drawing 1-1 at Atalanta.
Manchester City could have an even bigger defensive crisis when they head to Merseyside as Ederson picked up a knock midweek. They’ll need more than a prayer if Claudio Bravo starts this game between the posts.
The Citizens are already without Aymeric Laporte in central defence, whilst John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi are only just back from injury.
Liverpool have dropped just two points from their opening 11 Premier League matches and with the form of their attack I simply expect them to outscore Manchester City on Super Sunday.
Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane up a defence that could include Claudio Bravo, John Stones, Kyle Walker, and Fernandinho playing at centre-back has to be a mouth-watering prospect to Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool fans.
Although they are without a clean sheet at Anfield and only two all season, I think Liverpool’s defence is better than their record suggests. Given that they have a six point lead over City in second place, Klopp can afford to play defensively and hit City on the counter. Although Guardiola’s defence is there for the taking.
It should be an exciting game at Anfield on Sunday but I can only see it going one way. And the odds are amazing!
